No official data is yet available for the population of England in 2013, or 2012 for that matter. But we do know that population growth is running at around 0.8% per year. From this, we can estimate that the population of England in 2012 was 56.5 million. To find out how many people live in England in 2013, we can project further and estimate the population around 57.0 million.

HND is awarded by Vocational and Technical Educational Councils, which offer one to two year courses in vocational, career related higher education courses, usually in science and business subjects. In 2006, over 94,000 international students came to New Zealand to further their education and to experience a lifestyle that is warm, welcoming and inspiring. There is a lot more to New Zealand than just an excellent education system though! New Zealand has a reputation as the ‘adventure capital of the world’ so if you are an extreme sportsperson, there are many opportunities to participate in extreme sports. From whitewater rafting and skiing to abseiling, mountain biking and snowboarding, you will be spoilt for choice! This beautiful recreational paradise in the south pacific has become a preferred study destination for many international students due to the following reasons:

1) Safe yet modern: This country of just over 4 million people is an easy going and one of the safest places on earth with high quality living conditions and a modern lifestyle. New Zealand has never seen war on its own shores and crime here is extremely low compared to America and Europe. The New Zealand government is also very stable and the New Zealanders are very outward looking and welcoming of new cultures.

2) British based education system: The New Zealand education programs and degrees are based on the worlds most recognized and accredited education system- The British System- without the same expense.

3) International recognition of courses and degrees: New Zealand qualifications are of a high quality and have a reputation around the world for being practical, modern and desired. All courses, programs and qualifications offered by New Zealand institutions are quality assured by the New Zealand government. Major employers around the world recognize New Zealand qualifications and employ New Zealand graduates.

4) Competitive Costs: New Zealand offers very affordable tuition fee compared with many other countries around the world. Competitive tuition fees coupled with a low cost of living represents a good value for your money.

5) Multiculturalism: New Zealand has a dynamic and harmonious multicultural society. Kiwis are friendly and pleasant and are opening their doors to offer you warm and welcoming environments. International students are highly respected in New Zealand and you will feel most welcome here.

6) Support Services: New Zealand has a long history of teaching international students and New Zealand institutions are sensitive to the needs of international students. The “International Office” in tertiary institutions provides a high quality support service to help you adjust to your new environment and successfully complete your studies.

7) Recreational wonderland: From the rugged mountains to the sandy beaches—New Zealand is a land of great variety. This is also true of educational and cultural programs on offer to international students. Although New Zealand has a population of only 4.3 million and is similar in geographical size to the U.K. and Japan, its breathtaking scenery sets it apart from the rest of the world. New Zealand offers exciting landscape and recreational opportunities as well as great outdoors to treasure.

8) Work while you study: All students on a student visa can work up to 20 hours per week during semester and full time i.e. 40 hours during vacations. Many New Zealand institutions offer a student employment service called ‘Student Job Search’ to help you find work.

9) Opportunity to settle permanently in New Zealand: If you complete your course successfully, you automatically get a 12 months ‘Work Permit’ under the student visa policy. In most instances this permit will be done at your institution itself. This allows you to work full time in any job of your choice. However if you want to get a New Zealand Permanent Residency (PR), then you have to find a job that is relevant to the course that you have completed. For example, if you have completed a course in IT, then you have to find a job as a programmer, analyst, etc. This will immediately give you a 2 years work permit with all rights like free medical, etc. Upon receiving this 2 years work permit you can apply for PR and normally will get it within 5-6 months. If you do not find a job that is relevant to your course, you can continue to work in any job for 12 months and try and recover some of the investment you have made towards your study in NZ. You will that way end up by recovering a bulk of the fees you have paid and also end up with an international experience which will come in handy if you have to return to India. There are plenty of jobs in NZ, and while it may not be easy to get one, if you are good enough, you will easily get one. For more information please visit www.immigration.govt.nz.

10) No personal visa interview and No outright visa rejection: The Immigration Department of New Zealand NEVER rejects a visa application outright without giving you a chance to explain. Compare this with other countries who do not give you an opportunity to mention your side of the story. As long as you are able to explain clearly why you have chosen a particular course, there is no danger of not getting the visa. We will help you with the course selection that will enable you to create a good ‘Statement of Purpose’ (SOP) that will help the visa officer understand clearly and give a favorable decision.

11) Further education after acquiring Permanent Residency: Once you acquire your Permanent Residency and want to study further, you become eligible for study loans from the Government of New Zealand. You can avail of these loans and pay after you complete the course. Your dependence on your parents can stop after you get your PR. You can also continue to work as much as you like while pursuing your further studies after PR. The 20 hours per week restriction goes away.

With this unique combination of top quality education and tope class services, why not become a top class student of New Zealand!

About United States of America

Named after Italian explorer and cartographer Amerigo Vespucci, USA is one of the most sought after country for education, career and immigration. Today the word “super” is used more often with America than any other country in perspective. The United States has been a leader in scientific research and technological innovation since the late 19th century. The United States leads the world in scientific research papers and impact factor. Americans possess high levels of technological consumer goods, and almost half of U.S. households have broadband Internet access.

Population

According to the US Census Bureau’s population clock, the US population on 1 January 2013 will be 315,183,801. High levels of immigration combined with a healthy birth rate mean that, in contrast to many other developed countries, the US population continues to grow at a steady rate, increasing at around 0.9% each year.

By population, the United States of America is the third largest country in the world, a long way behind China (pop 1.3 billion) and India (1.2 billion). It’s most populous states are California (pop: 37.7 million) and Texas (pop: 25.7 million), and it’s most populous city is New York (pop: 8.2 million).

Climate

The United States, with its large size and geographic variety, includes most climate types. To the east the climate ranges from humid continental in the north to humid subtropical in the south. The southern tip of Florida is tropical, as is Hawaii. The Great Plains west of the 100th meridian are semi-arid. Much of the Western mountains are alpine. The climate is arid in the Great Basin, desert in the Southwest, Mediterranean in coastal California, and oceanic in coastal Oregon and Washington and southern Alaska. Most of Alaska is subarctic or polar. Extreme weather is not uncommon—the states bordering the Gulf of Mexico are prone to hurricanes, and most of the world’s tornadoes occur within the country, mainly in the Midwest’s Tornado Alley.

Main Cities

New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Las Vegas, Philadelhpia and San Diego.

Culture and Multiculturalism

There are three icons of American culture are American Flag, apple pie and baseball. Having fifty one states USA is easily the only country with fifty one different flavors of culture.

The United States is a multicultural nation, home to a wide variety of ethnic groups, traditions, and values. There is no American ethnicity; aside from the now small Native American and Native Hawaiian populations, nearly all Americans or their ancestors immigrated within the past five centuries. The culture held in common by most Americans—mainstream American culture—is a Western culture largely derived from the traditions of European immigrants with influences from many other sources, such as traditions brought by slaves from African. More recent immigration from Asia and especially Latin America has added to a cultural mix that has been described as both a homogenizing melting pot and a heterogeneous salad bowl in which immigrants and their descendants retain distinctive cultural characteristics.

Transport

Transportation in the United States is facilitated by road, air, rail, and water networks. The vast majority of passenger travel occurs by automobile for shorter distances, and airplane for longer distances. In descending order, most cargoes travel by railroad, truck, pipeline, or boat; air shipping is typically used only for perishables and premium express shipments.

Out of the many choices that are available for passengers the bus, in most cases, is the least expensive way to travel long distances in the United States.

Education System in USA

State College or University: A state school is supported and run by a state or local government. Each of the 50 U.S. states operates at least one state university and possibly several state colleges. Many of these public universities schools have the name of the state, or the actual word “State” in their names: for example, Washington State University and the University of Michigan.

Private College or University: These schools are privately run as opposed to being run by a branch of the government. Tuition will usually be higher than state schools. Often, private U.S. universities and colleges are smaller in size than state schools.

Religiously affiliated universities and colleges are private schools. Nearly all these schools welcome students of all religions and beliefs. Yet, there are a percentage of schools that prefer to admit students who hold similar religious beliefs as those in which the school was founded.

Community College: Community colleges are two-year colleges that award an associate’s degrees (transferable), as well as certifications. There are many types of associate degrees, but the most important distinguishing factor is whether or not the degree is transferable. Usually, there will be two primary degree tracks: one for academic transfer and the other prepares students to enter the workforce straightaway. University transfer degrees are generally associate of arts or associate of science. Not likely to be transferrable are the associate of applied science degrees and certificates of completion.

Community college graduates most commonly transfer to four-year colleges or universities to complete their degree. Because they can transfer the credits they earned while attending community college, they can complete their bachelor’s degree program in two or more additional years. Many also offer ESL or intensive English language programs, which will prepare students for university-level courses.

If you do not plan to earn a higher degree than the associate’s, you should find out if an associate’s degree will qualify you for a job in your home country.

Institute of Technology: An institute of technology is a school that provides at least four years of study in science and technology. Some have graduate programs, while others offer short-term courses.

Study in USA

Over 765,000 international students are currently studying in the United States, of which over 5,500 are from Nepal. As the number one destination for international students, the U.S. offers most attractive opportunities and choices for furthering your education. The United States has an outstanding higher education system. Every year The Times Education Supplement ranks the top universities worldwide and, according to this year’s evaluation, 14 out of the first 20 are from the US.

Why is it that so many international students choose to study in the United States? Here are some of the reasons:

1. Commitment to Excellence: One of the highest selling points of American education is perhaps its worldwide reputation of commitment to excellence. Only the best students around the world are admitted to the top schools in the US, where quality education is imparted to them by an expertly trained faculty. This quality education is thereby upheld year after year and the degrees that students attain in the US are not just widely recognized and accepted, but also widely respected around the world.

2. Brilliant Scope for Research: If you are inclined toward academic research, the US is your perfect choice for higher education. You can get the opportunity to earn while you learn, when you enroll into an MS/PhD program. Your research grant will help support your personal needs by waiving your tuition and providing you with a stipend, while the intellectual challenges that you will overcome academically will certainly help satisfy your professional appetite. Funding and grants for most research projects at the university are obtained from either the federal government or reputed multinational corporations in the industry.

3. Academic Flexibility: You will soon discover that the education system in the US is a lot different from your home country. The US education system offers a kind of flexibility in terms of the courses that are offered, which enables you to select your choice of subject from a variety of topics. You can now specialize in the area of your choice without having to take any unnecessary classes. You also have the flexibility to choose a class at any time during the academic year, since some courses are offered multiple times during the academic year. The quarterly or semester system gives you a flexibility to complete your academic program at your own pace and take additional time on a research project if required. For instance, if you can complete the total number of courses required for you to graduate, you can finish up your master’s degree within a year. You can also spread out your course completion schedule in such a manner as to devote more time for research and complete your course in a couple of years.

4. Financial Support: Availability of financial aid is another major incentive for international students to opt for higher education in the US. Most universities offer its students grants, loans and stipends to cover their daily expenses as well as tuition in some cases. University assistantship is provided on the basis of merit rather than financial need. If you can prove your excellence in academics, then your US education may even turn out to be free. Otherwise, obtaining grants and loans from banks is also easy if you can provide proof of your admission. On-campus work programs are also available for students who qualify for a specific kind of job. For instance, if you have humanities major, you can seek employment at the library. If you are certified lifeguard, you can work at the Aquatic Center.

5. Lucrative Job Opportunities: On completion of your degree, you are legally authorized to work in the US in your related field for about a year. You need to apply for Optional Practical Training Employment Authorization (OPT). Most international students get inducted into the company that hires them during their OPT period, by sponsoring their H1-B or work visa. The H1-B work visa is usually granted by employers if they are hiring international students in specialty areas such as software, engineering, accountancy, teaching or marketing. Once your employer grants your H1-B, you are allowed to work in the US without returning to your home country.

6. Value Addition and Cultural Enhancement: Around 30 percent of all international students in the world study in the US. So, as an international student, you will have the unique privilege to interact with a lot of people from a lot of different nationalities. This exposure will not only enhance your cultural and artistic faculties, but will also help you learn a lot more about the world. The exciting cultural exchange and international diversity will certainly enrich your life both personally and academically. Your new friends will be your new family.

Study in Canada

About Canada
A neighbor of USA and home to ice hockey, maple trees and salmon Canada is an amazing place to live, work and study. Ranked quite higher in leading economies Canada also is a picture of serene beauty and realm of calmness.

Canada Population 2013
The current population of Canada is estimated to be approximately 34,881,000 people, which is an increase of about 1.2% from the last record of population.  Historically, the population of the country has been greater than the population of Australia, but has oscillated in terms of the population of California.  Up until 1984, the population of Canada had been greater than the population of California.  However, ever since then, California’s population is greater than the population of Canada.  Based on the total land area and the total population of the country, the population density of Canada is estimated to be about 9.05 people per square mile.

Climate

Average winter and summer high temperatures across Canada vary depending on the location. Winters can be harsh in many regions of the country, particularly in the interior and Prairie Provinces with severe wind chill. In non-coastal regions, snow can cover the ground almost six months of the year (more in the north). Coastal British Columbia is an exception; it enjoys a temperate climate, with a mild and rainy winter.

Main Cities

Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver and Calgary.

Culture and Multiculturalism

Canada is a geographically vast and ethnically diverse country. Canadian culture has also been greatly influenced by immigration from all over the world. Many Canadians value multiculturalism and see Canadian culture as being inherently multicultural. Due to an exceptional rate of immigration Canada is a personification of cultural exchange which is a salient feature of country’s growth. American media is dominant and cross border cultural participation unifies the USA and Canada as North America. University campuses throughout the country reflect one reality: a multitude of languages are spoken and hundreds of culture interconnects.

Transport

Canada’s economy and way of life are directly tied to its national transportation infrastructure system. Transportation in the country is facilitated by road, air, rail, and water networks. Most Canadian cities have public transportation, if only a bus system. Six Canadian cities have rapid transit systems and three have commuter rail systems. Not many Canadians use public transportation to get to work. This compares to a majority that got to work by car. In general, Canadian cities have rates of public transit use which are two to three times as high as comparable to U.S. cities.

Education System

Moving to Canada with children means you will want and need to understand Canada’s education system.Canadian school systems may be quite different from what you have been used to in your home country. In some respects, the school systems in Canada can also be different from each other, depending on the province or territory.Schooling is mandatory to the age of 16 in most provinces, and to the age of 18 in New Brunswick and Ontario (or until completion of grade 12). The Canadian school years lasts from September to June.

Regional differences
Schools are funded and overseen at the federal level, provincial or territorial level and on the local level, with chief policy making at the provincial level. Education is available in both English and in French in most places, provided there are enough students in that area speaking the secondary language.

Provinces are separated into districts, from which school boards are derived. It is the responsibility of the school boards to make local policy and to implement the standard curriculum set forth by the province. Alberta allows for charter schools that are not subject to the school boards.

As Canada has no federal department of education, the 10 provinces and three territories are, therefore, responsible for the organization, delivery and assessment of education at the elementary, secondary, technical, vocational and post-secondary levels.

According to a report released by the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada, “While there are a great many similarities in the provincial and territorial education systems across Canada, there are significant differences in curriculum, assessment, and accountability policies among the jurisdictions that express the geography, history, language, culture, and corresponding specialized needs of the populations served”.

Kindergarten
Education, in most instances, begins with kindergarten. Junior kindergarten is available in British Columbia and Ontario, while in some areas, kindergarten is either not required or it is not available. Generally, children are aged five when they start kindergarten.

Elementary & junior high/middle school
Elementary school generally includes grades one through six (for students aged approximately six to 12 years), when there is a junior high school as the next step. In some areas, elementary school is extended through grade eight. Middle schools and junior high schools provide the transition from elementary to high school, and encompass years seven and eight of the education system.

High school
High school runs typically through grades nine to 12. In Québec, high school ends in grade eleven and is followed by CEGEP, a program that prepares the student for university or a technical field. A second senior year, sometimes called a ‘victory lap’ is often used in its place to strengthen the student academically before entering university.

Vocational school or university
Beyond this, students can attend either vocational schools or enter a university. At a university they will first earn a Bachelor’s degree, and can continue studies to receive a Master’s or a Doctorate degree. Vocational students will earn certificates and diplomas that will attest to their skills in the various trades.
